A matter of taste
New Zealand’s spray-free aroma hops are seen as highly prized by international brewers for their unique flavours – and yet account for less than 2% of global production.
That’s not to say the sector is without its challenges. With craft beer markets in the US and UK now having reached a more mature stage, the global hop market currently has surplus supply. Demand growth is anticipated from emerging hotspots of craft beer drinkers in Asia and Latin America, and further market corrections will be needed to restore a better balance between supply and demand.
