Horticultural businesses continue operations as essential services.
MyFarm's horticultural partners in the kiwifruit, apple, viticulture, avocado and other sectors are continuing to harvest, process and export under stringent conditions as New Zealand prepares to enter a Level 4 lockdown in the battle against Covid-19.
These sectors are classified as essential services under the government's Level 4 classification.
MyFarm operational partners are running at 100% capacity. Their focus is ensuring that all harvest and packhouse staff are actively enforcing precautions to protect their own health and that of their colleagues and families. This includes measures and processes such as cleaning all touch areas and strict travel rules to reduce the risk of transmission in both the field and packhouse.
MyFarm manages more than 25 orchards, gardens, vineyards and plantations on behalf of their syndicate investor owners.
MyFarm CEO Andrew Watters says currently signals from export markets are positive, supported by a favourable kiwi dollar, but the landscape is constantly evolving. "We will be communicating with our investors regularly".
