MyFarm Investments is pleased to announce the appointment of rural economist Con Williams as its Head of Investment Research.
Con leaves his current role as ANZ rural economist to join MyFarm in early July.
MyFarm Investments CEO Andrew Watters says the newly created position is a reflection of MyFarm's growth as a rural investment specialist and the need to provide investors with high quality research and analysis.
"We believe Con is the best primary sector analyst in the country. His work has been incredibly important for us as we have ventured into new primary sectors such as apples, kiwifruit and viticulture."
MyFarm is a specialist syndication business providing investment opportunities into the primary sector. In 2013 the company expanded its focus from dairy farm syndication and management into the wider primary sector. In the past five years it has enabled more than 400 eligible New Zealand investors access to horticultural investments into thriving export sectors such as gold kiwifruit and Rockit apples.
Andrew Watters says Con's analysis through the high quality ANZ Agri-Focus publication has backed up MyFarm's belief that the horticulture sector's export success is sustainable.
"Con has identified the emergence of sectors such as pipfruit, viticulture, kiwifruit and more recently avocados and manuka honey. His analysis shows that their success is as a result of a focus on customers, quality and supply management plus the application of plant variety rights."
He says Con will play a key role in MyFarm's market testing of the potential for a diversified and high yielding agricultural fund later in 2018.
